The Opening Ceremony of the Fifth International Workshop was Held in Space City
The opening ceremony of the Fifth Satellite Application Technology Training, which is Sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology and undertaken jointly by CAST Shenzhou Institute (CSI) and CAST International, took place in Space City. With vice-president Li Ming presiding over the meeting, those present at the meeting are representatives from CASC International Cooperation Department and Space Star, and 19 interns from 12 different countries.
On the ceremony, CSI played CAST video, made brief introduction of the project background, training plan and CAST capacity. Lastly, on behalf of president Zhang Hongtai and the first vice-president Zhao Xiaojin, president Li extended warm welcome to all the interns, and expressed deep appreciation to Ministry of Science and Technology and CASC.
In addition, president Li made an introduction of satellite research and development since the foundation of CAST, cooperation with other countries in commercial satellite export, satellite application and training. Meanwhile, he made the wishes that all the relevant staff from departments concerned work together to make a better training this time based on the experience of those of previous four times, in the hope of laying a good foundation of the future international exchange and cooperation.
The Fifth Satellite Application Technology Training is made of three parts: classroom training, on-site visiting and forum exchange. For the classroom training, interns will learn general satellite technology, payload technology, satellite application, China manned space program, China luna exploring program and so on. For on-site training, interns will be arranged to go to various organizations for more practical experience, such as DHF Small Satellite Co. Ltd., Shandong Aerospace Electro-technology Institute, CAST Yungang Ground station, National Weather Bureau, Resource Satellite Center and so on. In the space application forum of developing countries, deputies of those countries will conduct full exchange from their respective space development. The training will be finished at August 12.
